SERENDIPITY AT THE DUNDAS STUDIO TOUR: MEETING ANITA

SERENDIPITY AT THE DUNDAS STUDIO TOUR: MEETING ANITA

There are moments in this business that stay with you — moments that remind you how much of what we do extends beyond the workbench. This story began at the Dundas Studio Tour and unfolded in a way I couldn’t have planned if I tried.

On the last day of the show, a woman named Anita came into my booth. She wasn’t casually browsing — she had that focused look people get when they’re searching for something very specific. After giving her a few minutes to look around, I asked if she was hoping to find anything in particular.

She told me she had lost one of her favourite earrings: a simple diamond stud she’d worn for a long time. She still had the remaining earring at home and wondered if I could remake the pair.

I told her that if she emailed me a photo, I’d be happy to try.
And then she mentioned where she had originally bought them: the duty-free shop in the Copenhagen airport.

I paused for a second before telling her something neither of us expected:
I will be in Copenhagen tomorrow.

She laughed, I laughed — it felt almost unbelievable. But we exchanged emails, and later that evening she sent me a clear photo of the earring.

Twenty-four hours after meeting her, I was walking through Copenhagen airport with my husband and child, suitcase in hand, looking for the exact pair she had lost. I showed the photo to the staff, and to my surprise, they still carried the identical earrings. I bought them immediately, tucked the box safely away, and brought them back to Canada.

Over the next month, Anita and I kept in touch by email. When I let her know I would be at my next show, she came out to meet me in person and pick up the earrings. The photo attached to this blog was taken that day.

This wasn’t about a sale or a custom order. It was simply one person helping another — and a moment of serendipity that only happened because she walked into my booth that afternoon.

So thank you to the Dundas Studio Tour.
Your show didn’t just introduce me to many wonderful customers — it set the stage for a story I’ll never forget.
