Founder & Designer
Hi, I’m Mags, the heart and soul behind Design by Athena. My journey into the world of jewelry began at the tender age of 8 when my aunt showed me her studded silver necklace. Ever since, I’ve been captivated by the beauty and artistry of fine jewelry. My favorite piece I’ve designed is the Blue Opal Boat Necklace – it symbolizes the freedom to roam, something I cherish deeply.
Before founding Design by Athena, I earned a Bachelor of Arts from York University and spent over 10 years in office management. I then took to the skies as a commercial helicopter pilot, fighting wildfires and supporting hunting camps across Canada. Today, I thrive as an entrepreneur, bringing my creative visions to life from my small Danforth studio.

Sales, Model & Magazine Publishing
Modeling, movement, and creativity are Andrea’s joie de vivre. With 30 years in the specialist fitness realm, Andrea compassionately moves seniors with medical conditions through her business, Mobile Fitness. Her role at Design by Athena feeds her passion for people and unique styling. Andrea can often be found at our market booths, featured in our photos, and sharing her cancer healing journey on Instagram @myveganketokitchen. She’s also a talented vegan cook and promotes small brands through her modeling work on Instagram @Andreaàlamode
Alana
Photography & Web Design
Hi! I’m Alana, a creative enthusiast with a passion for photography, graphic design, and digital marketing. My journey began in high school, leading to an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design from Durham College and a Digital Marketing certificate from York University. At Design by Athena, I bring Mags' vision to life through stunning photography and web design. When I’m not working, I enjoy gardening, baking, knitting, playing video games, and attending live music concerts with my husband, Austin.
Lucy
Virtual Assistant & Sales
I’m Lucy, and I love helping people and connecting with them, making sales a natural fit for me. My business as a virtual assistant supports small businesses, allowing me to bring my organizational skills and dedication to Design by Athena. I thrive on the ever-changing tasks and needs of the business. In my free time, I enjoy singing karaoke and making to-do lists to stay organized.
